Grassfield R/C Club is an Academy Model Aeronautics (AMA) chartered club, #1405. Grassfield RC Club Membership requires: AMA Membership (not Park Flyer), FAA DroneZone Registration, and completion of the FAA Trust Test (approximately 35 questions-You can’t fail). Failure to register with with the FAA and complete the Trust Test can result in substantial civil penalties and jail time.

“Failure to register an unmanned aircraft that is required to be registered may result in regulatory and criminal penalties. The FAA may assess civil penalties up to $27,500. Criminal penalties include fines of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment for up to three years.”

AMA provides the liability insurance for the club, and for our individual members. This applies to all members. AMA membership is based on a rolling calendar year. It is your responsibility to keep you AMA membership, insurance, and FAA Registration up to date.

Grassfield RC memberships are based on the calendar year Jan 01-December 31st. New members joining after September 30th will be valid into the following year.

Grassfield has a number of instructor Pilots. These members will work with you as instructors to help you understand all the ins and outs of model aviation, and to help ensure you learn to fly competently and safely. Just like full scale aviation, most people find flying model aircraft more challenging than they initially expect. With the help of one of our instructors, we will help ensure your success and enjoyment in this amazing hobby.
